eCourse Review: The Best Way to Market Research It: Find Your Golden Idea & Create What People Will Buy

Hefty promise to give a reader, right?  Let’s find out if we will indeed strike gold by reviewing Joshua Lisec’s eCourse called, The Best Way to Market Research It: Find Your Golden Idea & Create What People Will Buy (aff.).  This eCourse comes with a video, audio, and a transcript version, and I reviewed this based on the video version.

Joshua Lisec is a world-renown ghostwriter who has ghostwritten at least 80 books for billionaires, CEO’s, celebrities, and more.  He focuses on writing books that are both bestselling in quality and will give a high ROI to his clients.  Since he knows not everyone can afford him, he creates eBooks to help writers do this themselves.  Some clients choose him for creating, marketing, and publishing their book.

I discovered him on Twitter during the 2020 pandemic, and his account is one of my favorite writing accounts.  I appreciate his valuable (and sometimes surprising) advice and the free AMA’s he does from time to time.

I’m reviewing this eBook from a beginner’s point of view – a beginner to online marketing.  If you have been involved with the #MoneyTwitter community on Twitter for at least a year, then some of the advice you may have happened to catch, but there are some gems in here that I was still new to discover.  Now let’s dig in for that gold.

The Best Way to Market Research It - eCourse Cover

Gumroad ranking is 4.8 / 5 stars as of 12/10/2023.

1.) Ease of Learning – 5

Rating: 5 out of 5.

It’s a plus that the eCourse provides a video, audio, and a transcript version.  I found that the advice was clear and easy to follow, and the freebie worksheet is a nice addition.  The concepts were simple enough for a teenager to understand.

This video course can be used to determine what you should create and sell; for example (but not limited to):

  • Information products about Web 3.0
  • Freelance writing
  • Coaching
  • Consulting
  • eBooks
  • eCourses
  • Any type of physical product, but it’s more geared towards selling online information products, physical  books, services, and freelancing
  • eCommerce stores
  • Weight loss/health/nutrition category products
  • Paid communities
  • Podcasts
  • Services
  • Premium newsletter subscriptions about a topic
  • You could use this with affiliate marketing, but you won’t be the creator in this case

2.) Jewels and Gems or Same Old Dirt? – 5

Rating: 5 out of 5.

I gave 5 stars for this because there are four or more “gems” in the course.  A gem is a piece of information that is phenomenal, valuable, or unmatched with anything else read or considered.  Though a lot of this is common sense, if it’s something you didn’t know to do, then it’s not so common for you.

Businessman bends and looks at the gold treasure in the soil.

My mind was blown upon learning about a way to know what your target market believes is missing among the current products that are out there (and how to use that information).  It feels a little embarrassing that this sounded like amazing advice to me, but if I didn’t know to do this, then maybe others are in the same boat.

In video 5, The Fastest Way to Validate It, Joshua gives precise details to help you figure out if your idea is worth pursuing and how to use this information to your benefit.  I like that he spoon-feeds the valuable information so you can just copy it.

Another gem: He discusses a few tools to use.  One tool he discusses tells real data about books actually being bought in your topic of interest (and it can be used not only for authors determining which books to write, but other business or online entrepreneurial endeavors as well).  It reports how much is made per month per topic/keyword, is there high or low competition (market saturation level), and how many searches per topic per month are occurring (demand level).

Discovering which market or niche in a market has both low competition AND high demand is where the gold is at.  He shares his screen, going through using the tool, and he gives useful tips on how to use it.

The course comes with a market research worksheet that’s a one-page sheet.  There’s even a fillable PDF version of it too.  He goes through it in one video and then gives demos using it live with real examples later on.  Other freebies come with the course as well (see #5).

In the bonus video with José Rosado, he goes into business market research in a more general sense.  I liked his slide is called, “How to Find Good Information About Your Niche”, especially since he gives more advanced niche queries, which I never heard of before and are simple to use.

There were many other tips sprinkled throughout this course (aff.), and these were some of the highlights in my opinion.

3.) Does It Help Solve the Problem? – 5

Rating: 5 out of 5.

Pain Point #1: You want to sell the right things.  Achieved – I feel confident that I know how to find a market that is in high demand and has low competition, or a more saturated market where I can find ways to stand out.

Pain Point #2: You want the stuff you’re selling to have the correct language in your sales copy, calls, marketing, ads, tweets, etc.  Achieved – this course gives excellent ways to find this.

Pain Point #3: You want to learn about doing market research in a way that is simpler, doesn’t waste your time, avoids theory, abstract concepts, and other useless fancy fluff.  Achieved – this is easy to follow and it makes sense.

Pain Point #4: You want to watch demos and actual examples of what is being taught.  Achieved.

4.) Interesting or Entertaining – 4.2

Rating: 4 out of 5.

Many times he added some humor, kept interest, and caused anticipation for the next secrets.  He’s chatty while he’s doing the demos of going through the one-page marketing sheet since you’re listening to his thought process in those videos.

5.) Freebies – 4.6

Rating: 4.5 out of 5.

The course (aff.) comes with these bonuses:

  • PRINTABLE: Market Research That Works One-Sheet
  • FILLABLE PDF: Market Research That Works One-Sheet
  • SPREADSHEET: The Best Way to Sell Books on Amazon
  • SPREADSHEET: The Best Way to Search Engine Optimize It
  • PDF: Market Research Recommended Reading
  • SPREADSHEET: José Rosado’s Plan Zero Method

On some of the spreadsheets, I had to change the spacing of the rows in Microsoft Excel to be larger to make visible whatever was being cut off from view.  It seems like a formatting issue on my end or something Excel does by default.  The fix is easy since you just need to drag the lines to make the rows have bigger spaces in between them.

6.) Cost – 3.5

Rating: 3 out of 5.

I gave this a 4.5, but because of the following rule I have, I deducted 1 point.  This relates to one of the valuable tools he discusses.  It’s a large gem in this course to know about and learn how to use.  Also, being convinced to purchase it by watching it at work has value in it too.  The rule regarding this is: If you have to spend more to buy something else they recommended to fulfill why you bought it for:

Deduct 1 point if it costs $50 or more

Deduct 2 points if it costs $100 or more

Deduct 3 points if it costs $200 or more

Deduct 4 points if it costs $500 or more

Deduct 5 points if it costs $1,000 or more

7.) Overall Vibe – 4.5

Rating: 4.5 out of 5.

I found this hard to decide since it’s to be judged for beginners who haven’t been learning about digital marketing or haven’t been absorbed in Money Twitter like I was during the pandemic, and I had gone through this course once before.  One concern is that it’s tough to predict how many of this course’s gems people already know or not.  If I remember how I was the first time I listened and learned these things, I thought it was amazing.

There’s a large amount of marketing advice I’ve heard that is not in here, but when it comes to doing the research aspect in an easy, reassuring way that gives you shortcuts to finding what you need, I liked the confidence it gave me to find what out what people want in specific areas.
